At 8bytes, I took on a wide range of responsibilities—from developing technical solutions to contributing to client acquisition, project management, and product delivery. We partnered with diverse startups across industries such as social media, logistics, marketing, proptech, and healthtech, along with larger enterprises in broadcasting and communications.One of the most fulfilling parts of my role was meeting new clients, exploring their ideas, and bringing their visions to life. Taking initial concepts and transforming them into fully realized products demanded creativity, determination, and close client collaboration. Our agile team provided end-to-end solutions, including native iOS and Android development, AWS infrastructure, API and web development, and UX/UI design. This versatility allowed us to deliver tailored solutions and build lasting client relationships.Throughout my time at 8bytes, I focused on DevOps, setting up infrastructure to ensure secure, scalable, and efficient environments. Additionally, I worked extensively on frontend development, evolving from Ember to Vue.js and, most recently, Svelte. A standout project was building a TV web app for Ireland’s Irish language broadcaster, TG4, one of our long-term clients.Within our team, we prioritized rapid deployment and responsiveness to customer feedback, following agile methodologies and lean startup principles. This approach kept us in sync with client needs, enabling continuous refinement of our products to maximize impact.After a fulfilling journey with 8bytes, I made the decision to move on, driven by a desire to work within companies where I could have a direct stake in the outcome and contribute to internal growth rather than remaining on the consulting side. I also gained valuable experience integrating with external services like Stripe, adding functional enhancements to our product that directly improved the customer experience.After a number of months however I decided that re-starting 8bytes was the best move for me and I move on from the role. At HubSpot, I joined the newly established iOS team in Dublin, where we were tasked with creating a significantly improved, native version of the iOS app. My primary responsibility was developing the analytics section of the app. This required building three separate iterations over the course of two months to ensure it was ready for the official launch.
