With a background in electrical engineering from Vanderbilt University, Barrett works across various industries and technologies, including Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), model training and usage, cloud computing, software applications, electrical power and battery systems, autonomous vehicles, sensor design, medical devices, circuit design and fabrication, and computer hardware.Recognized as a top intellectual property attorney, Barrett is ranked nationally in the IAM 1000 and recognized as an IAM Strategy 300 Global Leader by Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) in their list of the World’s Leading IP Strategists. He has presented and published extensively on emerging technologies and on creating and implementing strategies for IP protection. Before co-founding Kennedy Lenart Spraggins, Barrett practiced patent law as a partner at Biggers & Ohanian in Austin, Texas. He received a Bachelor of Engineering degree in electrical engineering from Vanderbilt University and a Juris Doctor degree from Florida State University, where he was executive editor of the Florida State University Business Review and a member of the Journal of Land Use and Environmental Law. Outside of his law practice, Barrett enjoys spending time and traveling with his wife and two children.
