A working film producer, a writer, and a former industry exec with decades of experience, Barri Evins has sold pitches, specs, articles, and books to all the majors. As a teacher and story consultant, she brings a passion for both storytelling and nurturing writers. Barri worked her way up through the executive ranks, beginning in development for writer/producers Bruce Evans & Ray Gideon (Starman, Stand by Me, Mr. Brooks) at Universal, where she set up her first feature. Barri was President of Debra Hill Productions (Halloween, The Fisher King) where she packaged, set up, and developed projects at Warners, Universal, Disney, Nickelodeon, New Line, and HBO.With a keen eye for talent, Barri discovered Assassins, the Wachowskis' first film (The Matrix) starring Sylvester Stallone and Antonio Banderas. She set up David Berenbaum’s first spec before Elf. She has worked closely with A-Lists, including Tobey Maguire, Shawn Levy (Night At The Museum, Stranger Things), Frank Oz (Bowfinger, What About Bob?) and Mark Fergus & Hawk Otsby (Children of Men, Iron Man, The Expanse).As a writer, Barri has co-written original treatments. Barri uses her industry experience to enable writers to create the best version of their stories and advance them in the marketplace through consultations, seminars, and mentorship, working with film and TV writers, as well as on fiction and nonfiction. Her innovative services and packages offer one-on-one discussion that is effective, constructive, and collaborative. Barri was an instructor for UCLA Graduate Producers Program and AFI . She has created custom courses for Pixar, DreamWorks Animation, and Blizzard Entertainment. She speaks at conferences including Great American PitchFest, Screenwriters Expo, Screenwriters World, and Writer’s Digest, as well as writers’ organizations around the country.Her innovative online intensive, Screenwriting Elevated, empowers emerging screenwriters to hone advanced skills and develop a distinctive voice.
