Initially joined the FCO as a project manager for security and justice work in Somaliland and then was appointed head of the British Embassy Addis Ababa's multinational, multidisciplinary programme team. Oversaw a regional programme portfolio of £45 million over three years covering infrastructure and security, prosperity and governance, in Somalia, Ethiopia, Djibouti and South Sudan. In mid-2015, moved to the British High Commission Nairobi.

Business development and project management for a start-up international development M&E company working to UK, EU and OAS requirements in Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America. Also proposal writing and review, corporate strategy and stakeholder management. Liaison and coordination with partners on project planning and implementation.
