Highlighted areas of risk not insured and potential future insurance issues that could arise in the event of the expansion of the Company being purchased. Upon completion of an investment, acted as a conduit between investors and the board, keeping investors aware.• Capitalised on an established network of insurance experts abroad when assisting clients who sought to expand abroad (into the USA in particular) and provided guidance with respect to some of the commercial issues and insurance risks • Against a backdrop of RDR (Retail Distribution Review) introduction, Barry relaunched the financial services side of the business resulting in a turnover of £500,000 and growing compared to £40,000 before RDR• Recognised an opportunity to acquire a financial services firm, a self-employed IFA, and a retired IFA introducer over a two-year period; during this same period other firms struggled to manoeuvre through changing times following RDR, and saw this as an obstacle

• Recognised an opportunity and subsequently established a new recruitment consultancy business• Established accounts and back office systems have researched the market• Led the creation of a website, and in order to keep initial costs down established a virtual office in London in order to create a London corporate image, whilst allowing the consultants to work from home.

• Was responsible for all general insurance clients• Introduced structure with clear division between financial services and general insurance• Maintained client relationships and provided them with the correct technical advice• Developed insurer relationships and learnt how to run a medium-size business by taking on as many responsibilities as possible.• Learnt how to computerise CRM back office systems and assisted with further implementation

• At age 26 ran Insurance Department and learnt to understand purchasing Insurance as a customer rather than a broker• Negotiated defined settlement agreements for loss of use of fleet vehicles which avoided the need for legal action against Insurers. This had been an ongoing contentious issue for several years as the Insurance Market did not accept the concept of loss. • Over two-year period negotiated large number of agreed daily rates for loss of use of the vehicles (the market had previously rejected the concept that any income would be lost due to not being able to use that vehicle). • Introduced the concept that simply not being able to use the vehicle was justification for compensation irrespective of loss of income, generating tens of thousands of pounds for the company in compensation. • Introduced and implemented risk management processes: regular vehicle inspection; penalties for regular acts of negligence; and generally attempting to transfer ownership and responsibility for good driving practice back to the instructor. This resulted in less disruption to the business, a better claims experience, and therefore premium savings.
