Manager: Technical Strategic Support (Utility Services)

Strategic support to the Executive Director (Utility Services) on transversal infrastructure, service and environmental policies, strategy, asset management and technical matters for water, sanitation, solid waste and electricity services. Special focus on resource utilisation to minimise waste and develop the green economy via alternative service delivery mechanisms and technologies, and Public-Private Partnerships in waste management. Successfully project managed:* a 360 review of waste management services (completed March 2011).* registration of a CDM landfill gas Programme of Activities with UNFCCC (December 2014). * tenders for appointment of a Transaction Advisor and panel of specialists to implement cross-cutting projects and partnerships involving waste, renewable energy and water (to start early-2016).* tender for sale of landfill gas (pending completion of infrastructure).* negotiation of Memorandum of Agreement with the Japanese International Cooperation Agency to provide grant funding for a pilot-scale pyrolysis plant (currently project managing implementation for evaluation in May 2016).* developed concept for GIS-based Early Warning Information Management System that allows transversal review of infrastructure and spatial development, demand planning and budgeting (currently being rolled out for implementation). Member of: * City's Growth Management, Transport Oriented Development and Green Economy & Climate Change working groups.* Western Cape Government's Green Economy working group.* GreenCape's Waste Economy steering committee.* City's World Design Capital 2014 project team.Member of steering committees and project teams for: * Built Environment Performance Plan. * Medium Term Infrastructure Investment Framework.* Financial Sustainability of Utility Services.* Voortrekker Rd Integration Zone.* Metro South East Integration Zone. * Two Rivers Urban Park (TRUP). * Athlone Power Station redevelopment project.
