It Technical DesignerBarclays Bank Jan 1984 - Nov 2009In my latest role at Barclays I worked on a number of feasibility studies which have necessitated me challenging the business requirements, ensuring they are sufficiently detailed to be delivered as well as being cost effective. In a number of cases I had to achieve a consensus across a number of business groups for the solution. I have had excellent feedback from the customers I have worked with especially during challenging periods. When progressing with these investigations it was imperative that a deep understanding of both the technical and business operations At the time of leaving I was seen as the person to go to when the non-standard requirements were presented where a different approach to the problem was required and customers had to be steered through the solution. Different options were always presented to arrived at a preferred solution. The most notable one was the introduction of Barclays Reserve which started with 3 people in a room looking at options and finished changing how Barclays ran its overdrafts. All the roles since 1988, when I became a Database Administrator, have meant that I have had to take responsibility for managing my work often juggling multiple projects and timescales. On those occasions when my workload was light I used my own internal contacts to find new work which often involved working outside of my core knowledge base. -

In this role I also represented Barclays at the DTi when explaining the complexities of their requirements and the impact on Barclay's systems.Migration of accounts from Woolwich systems to Barclays. A wide ranging role mapping data between the systems ensuring that once migrated the data and processes aligned. I worked with the Marketing Department to develop a mailing strategy to match the migration tranche with the correct customers. This was a three year project.I designed innumerable Retail Banking products including Current accounts, noticeably the Additions range, Savings products ISAs along Loan products. Each of these had to be placed correctly in the various channels and business units. Credit Reference Agencies (CRAs), data feeds for Retail and Local Business to Experian, Equifax and Call credit. The selection and delivery of data within the CAIS format from the Data Warehouse. This has required that I work with the CRAs to agree the content and to source the data from the Data Warehouse, this was done to a very low level of detail. Since 2005 I became the Barclays subject matter expert on CRAs as I developed 4 separate solutions across the group. -
