About Barry Davidson

I have a lifelong passion for making a difference in the field of social care and mental health. In recent years I have devoted my time to managing some of the most demanding and complex aspects of statutory work for a large county council. and passing on my experience gained over many years. My current role involves supervising and managing the performance of some of the most experienced professionals employed within the local authority.For the past couple of years I have managed the Emergency Duty Service responsible for providing all aspects of the local authorities core statutory adult social care responsibilities on an Emergency basis outside working hours. I am also the manager and AMHP Lead for the Local Authorities Mental Health Act service inc of a team of Approved Mental Health Professionals. I have specialised in crisis management but also have a diverse and vast experience of having worked in a variety of areas within Adult Social Care inclusive of Adult Safeguarding and Care Act duties, and having worked in a variety of teams for the local authorities such as the Learning Disability and Children's services team. I also bring significant senior social work and managerial experience having also worked for many years in the NHS in a supervisory and senior social work role and equally having undertaken a variety of supervisory and management roles in the third sector. I continue to undertake AMHP duties to support my own continued professional development and my teaching with the delivery of the AMHP training programme at Brighton University. I ensure my professional development is current. Key recent training undertaken being Coaching skills, project management, preparation for LPS, managing effective online meetings and effective change management.     My role with ESCC began with undertaking different Senior Social Work roles in various teams including the Duty and Assessment team and Older Persons Mental Health team. Supporting staff in the most challenging of statutory work involving complex risk assessment and Care Act service provision in times of challenging resource allocation, whilst ensuring the highest of professional standards are maintained and the service clearly demonstrates the key social work values and ethics that drive our day to day work.
