I began my somewhat radical career change in January 2017 after being given the opportunity to join Keelagher Okey Klein as a trainee Quantity Surveyor, after they originally advertised for an assistant/graduate QS.Before this I had been self employed, landscape gardening (mainly commercial), the experience I gained in my previous role has already, and will continue to be of use and give me an advantage in my current role, especially where groundwork/landscapes are involved.I left KOK in the March of 2021 to join Onsite Services in Northwich as a Contracts Manager, this was the deviation from Quantity Surveying with the increased personal interaction and variety I had been craving.In November 2022 I departed Onsite to join Ground Control as a Contract Manager. I felt the Contract Manager role was right for me, however I also felt there was knowledge gaps in some of the construction aspects in my previous role and that a similar career path within a Grounds Maintenance/Landscape setting would be something that could make real use of my blend of people skills, hands on experience, and commercial awareness.
