Barry is the owner of Adventure Works, Cape Town's leading adventure company, specialising in providing dynamic, professional and fun events for corporate groups. Group sizes range from 1 to 8000 pax. With over 20 years experience in the MICE industry, Barry's skills and knowledge ensure that your corporate event is tailored to your needs, organised and executed to the highest standard. Barry’s skill set is quite diverse and can be adapted for any event requirements. His extensive travels have enabled him to adapt his approach to different people, cultures and environments, he fills a room with his presence and can get any group excited and ready to give their all. Barry thrives in creating a fun vibe with groups so that they are comfortable enough to enjoy whatever they are doing to its maximum capacity. One of his favourite catchphrases, “If you’re not laughing… You’re not learning!”, epitomises his approach to use fun and laughter to get through to anyone.A Passion for the Outdoors and testing himself against all the natural elements led Barry into the Adventure Industry 20 odd years ago. His primary hobby of riding the biggest waves he can find took him to the Semi Finals of the Red Bull Big Wave Africa in 2008. He has run the 80km Puffer trail run from Cape Point to the Waterfront over the mountains and in 2013 he completed the grueling 2400km, unassisted Freedom Challenge mountain bike event across South Africa. In his spare time, you will find him on his mountain bike scaring himself on huge jumps and downhill tracks. Barry studied Psychology, English Literature and Journalism at Rhodes University and served on the board of SITE (South Africa) and is the past chairman of the Cape Big Wave Trust.With the events industry in lockdown it was necessary to find other ways to connect with our clients and for them to connect with each other, so, putting 23 years of knowledge and skills to good use, our virtual events were born. Covering everything from educational events about sustainability and SDG's to showcasing Cape Town and South African Travel, to a ton of pure fun, laugh out loud events, we've got something for everyone.
