Worked on multiple concurrent projects in different stages of development from requirements, design, coding, test to deployment, and maintenance. Wrote code in JAVA J2EE and JSP and STRUTS framework to dynamically generate html web pages using an Oracle Database for persistent storage. The complex enterprise systems require interfaces with other internal and external systems using web services or JMS message queues. The distributed applications use multiple redundant weblogic and jboss application servers running on Sun Solaris and linux machines.

Contractor through Teksystems to MCI which was bought by Verizon. Converted to a permanent position in October 2006.

Wrote applications to allow university library patrons find and access information over the network. Code written in JAVA, PHP, JSP, or Perl to dynamically deliver web pages using a MYSQL and Oracle Database and Apache/Tomcat server running on Sun Solaris and linux machines. Customized the Open Source package DSPACE from Sourceforge for use as the digital repository at the Library. Fixed bugs in the latest version of the package in CVS and submitted my changes back to the project for inclusion in the next public release. Received training classes on Oracle 9i DBA and XML / XSLT.

Wrote Java Media Framework wrapper around the C++ libraries that control Osprey audio/video capture and MPEG compression hardware. I maintained and enhanced the multiplatform (Solaris and Windows) C++ libraries that allow customers who want to develop custom applications to control the Osprey hardware. Tracked down and fixed problems reported by customers that first level customer support could not resolve. Wrote sample applications for the Software Developer's Kit using Visual C++, MFC, and Directshow to demonstrate the capabilities of the Osprey drivers and Audio/Video Capture Hardware.

Worked on the team that designed and developed DNS server software written in JAVA. The multithreaded software ran on Red Hat linux machines.

Gathered requirements for, designed, developed, maintained and enhanced Internet community publishing software. The first generation used Netscape Enterprise web server extensions written in C to dynamically create web pages using information in an Informix database running in a Unix environment on Sun Solaris machines. Later generations used JAVA servlets to parse XML tags in HTML page templates and expanded them into HTML customized for the particular user requesting the page. The multithreaded JAVA and C code caches web pages and user information and detects the type of browser used by the client from information passed in the HTTP Headers and delivers content that can be displayed properly on the client browser. I have written stored procedures, triggers, and user defined data types in the Informix database in C and SQL

Core Engineering Group - The core group produced, maintained, and extended generic libraries and applications used by all of the project teams in the company. The libraries and applications were written in C++ running on Sun Solaris.
