I started with W.G. Yates and Sons Construction (now known as YATES Construction) as an Assistant Superintendent in 1997. I was promoted to a Project Superintendent in 2000. I was further promoted to a General Superintendent in 2012, and remained in that position until I left the company in 2019. In this 22.5 years I was part of several types of construction, across the country, with a cost range from 1 million up to 454 million. From a Safety 1st mentality, thru implementation of Production Planning and ultimately QAQC from Pre-Con thru Final Completion, Yates Construction made me the manager I am today.

This was the second time working for Pride Construction. We built the second phase on a Hotel that I was also on with Pride Construction for the 1st phase of in 1994. This time I hired in as a General Foreman, and ran all aspects of the building assembly in the field. Both self-performed work and sub-contractor coordination.

I started as a Formwork Carpenter, and was also performing all on site and building Survey/Layout in 1994. I was promoted to General Foreman in 1996. This period in my career was my primary learning curve of all aspects of larger Commercial Construction. From High Rise construction vertical formwork, self-performing thousands of cubic yards of flat work concrete, all the way to hanging sheet rock, laying tile, setting bath tubs, and self-performing interior punch out, including unit owner turn over. This time frame established a solid base of knowledge from which I've drawn for the past 2 plus decades.

This was my first job in Commercial Construction. I had previously worked for a small Residential Contractor (Hickox Designs - Casey, IL) as a carpenter. For Pride Construction, I assisted the Master Carpenter on site with several aspects of concrete formwork thru interior framing, and stayed thru finishes and punch list.
