Barry has been in senior executive management roles in different organizations building teams, effecting change through a strong hearts and minds approach to leadership.   In his work and personal worlds, Barry’s life pursuit and passion is  about seeing people be the best they can be and overcome any obstacle they may face.Barry knows firsthand about trauma and crisis, both in his personal world and professional   environments.  In his role with Emergency Services and in his private consulting, he has been there for people in their worse moments and assisted and helped many communities in the midst of some of their toughest times.    Barry has navigated his own journey with PTSD, anxiety and depression as well as being an active supporter in seeing family and friends overcome their own battles.   This has seen Barry’s passion and strong commitment for change result in raising awareness of mental health issues to help reduce the incidence of self-harm and suicide.Since Barry’s own mental health struggle he has pursued an internal change of thought and practice ensuring that each day is focussed on compassion, care and love and living each precious moment to the full, putting into use tools that he has learned on his journey.    Not looking at the struggles of the past nor the uncertainty of the future but seeking always to find the very beauty of the present He has a simple philosophy that people need space to breathe but also at times need someone to give them breath and take that first step towards happiness.     Barry has spoken at a number of national and International events including New Zealand, India, United States, Bangladesh  both as a keynote and guest speaker and has informed and entertained audiences with his fresh honest approach.   He loves to challenge audience to think differently, question the process, and enable and inspire people to act on their dreams.  Barry models this in his own life and points the way forward, encouraging hearts along the way. Barry is known for his amazing ability to be able to build relationships with people from all walks of life and ages and strives to have a positive impact on people and leave them feeling  just a little bit happier than before.Barry lives his life transparently, open and authentically and very much wears his heart on his sleeve and shares with his audience his learnings in a funny, captivating, heartfelt and genuine way.
