Barry's passion and pursuit of an extensive career towards risk management and loss control stems from twelve years commercial and industrial trade certification and project management combined with thirty-five years of experience in Risk Management, Corporate Security, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning, Crisis Management, and Occupational Health & Safety. In his leadership role within the Engineering and Loss Control division of a global insurance provider Barry led a very successful and skilled team who provided detailed underwriting support and direction in addition to conducting numerous risk assessments within commercial and industrial operations from woodworking and plastics manufacturing facilities to fiberglass plants to the Oil Sands in Ft. McMurray, Alberta, Canada. Upon transitioning into the mining industry, Barry took on the role of Director, Risk, Security & Loss Control and the responsibility of enhancing and aligning a global loss control program for numerous existing Operations, expansions and future projects, and led initiatives towards streamlining the risk management and risk assessment processes for Teck Resources Limited. Following retirement from Teck, Barry continues to provide support to Risk, Security, and Crisis Management. Barry is an honors graduate, with distinction, from the Grant MacEwan University Security Management program, a graduate of the University of Calgary Risk Management program, and holds CIP and CRM designations.
