Up to the present, I maintain active membership with the American Society for Testing and Materials (now, ASTM International) Committee G04 on Flammability and Sensitivity of Materials in Oxygen-Enriched Environments and the NFPA 99, "Health Care Facilities", Technical Committee for Hyperbaric and Hypobaric Facilities and the International Standards Organization (ISO) task groups dealing with standards on Medical Devices and Valves. -
Special Projects Engineer And Materials Test Facility ManagerNasa - National Aeronautics And Space Administration Jan 1981 - Jun 1989Washington, Dc, UsBetween 1981 and 1983 I was an engineering intern at the NASA White Sands Test Facility working primarily on heat transfer and thermodynamic modeling of aircraft carrier deck fires and Shuttle launch operations ground support equipment thermal environments. Between 1983 and 1989, I was involved in pneumatic system design, failure analysis, and testing while working for NASA WSTF. I managed the materials testing, pressure system qualification, and oxygen compatibility special projects performed at NASA WSTF for the Shuttle Orbiter pneumatic systems and ground support equipment. From 1986 to 1989 I also acted as facility manager for the NASA WSTF Materials Test Facility where hazardous flammability, explosion, and compatibility tests for the Johnson Space Center were performed. While at NASA, I participated in launch and flight preparations for the first 25 Shuttle Orbiter missions.
