I lectured in Construction Materials Technology 4 & Geometric Design 4 at BTech level. I expanded and revised the courses regularly in consultation with the external moderators and with input from industry to keep the course content current and applicable. The 3rd year Transportation course material was a bituminous course including an overview of bitumen and the design and construction of bituminous surface treatments and HMA.Research was undertaken for my BTech dissertation on HMA compaction problems experienced in the Western Cape. This research was taken further to an MTech which was not finally submitted due to my high core lecturing commitments.Research supervision was undertaken in my specialized subject area of road design and bituminous and granular materials applications.Various Stellenbosch Masters block courses on materials and pavement design where attended regularly to further my knowledge in the subject area to assist in my continual professional development and as well as other courses presented by SARF, SABITA, AsAc and SAT. These included the revisions to the TRH 3 document for surface treatments.During my time at CPUT I developed course material for the Asphalt Academy (AsAc) regarding laboratory testing and presented the courses in the Western and Southern Cape. I revised the course notes between 2004 and 2007 in line with the SA Qualifications Framework.I was one of the task team members that assisted on developing the first edition of SABITA manual 22 on Hot mix paving in Adverse Weather. I was instrumental in getting CPUT to join SABITA as an Associate Member and was the SABITA representative on both campuses. I was the Site Agent for the 2 paving units and the hand team. All internal paving work for Power Construction was undertaken by the Blitz teams. Additional work was sourced from other contractors requiring paving. He was responsible for the co-ordination and planning of the paving operations and the monthly claims and invoicing for each contract undertaken. I was employed as a Civil Engineering Technician to assist in the design and site supervision of roads and services to the structural buildings designed by the organization. Projects involved in included:o Houwtek industrial developmento Urban development in Fish Hoeko Extensions to Tiger Oats factory in Ndabenio Maynard Mall multi storey parking lot.o Services and roads to residential development in Brackenfel.

I studied through Savage and Lovemore on their bursary scheme to obtain my NHD Diploma in Civil Engineering from 1982 – 1886. I then worked for them for a year once qualified.
