With significant experience in both the Private and Public sectors, Barry is the rare combination of a hands-on CFO and a high level, strategic thinker and business adviser. He has worked across multiple industries and has a particular interest and unique skills in establishing and growing businesses. After extensive experience in the technology industry, Barry was appointed as the founding Chief Financial Officer of SAHMRI (www.sahmri.com). He was instrumental in SAHMRI’s growth from 6 employees to having over 850 staff and assisted SAHMRI's transition from being initially focused on delivering the iconic $240m SAHMRI building, to becoming one of the largest and most successful medical research institutes in Australia. As well as managing SAHMRI’s financial operations and growth, he also oversaw the funding and negotiations of a second $280m+ SAHMRI building.Prior to joining SAHMRI, Barry was one of the founders of Mnet Group, which he helped grow from a start-up to being Australia’s leading mobile solutions provider. In 2009 Barry managed Mnet’s listing onto the ASX. He also helped secure significant investments working closely with companies such as Seven Media Group, Yahoo!, Telstra, Austereo, Alcatel, Motorola and Internode and helped secure major contracts in Australia and overseas. In 2013 Mnet was acquired by IPG Mediabrands (NYSE: IPG) and rebranded Ansible (www.ansible.com). Barry is an experienced CFO, Company Secretary and Company Director, with an extensive understanding of corporate finance, strategic planning, corporate governance, negotiations, venture financing and the administration of complex businesses. Barry is currently the CFO with ground breaking Australian defence technology company, Acacia Systems. He also continues to provide financial and management consulting services in industries such as technology, defence and research.He has an undergraduate degree in Accounting (BAcc), is a Fellow of the Australian Society of CPA's (FCPA), and has an MBA from the University of Adelaide.
