I am the shift leader for a Security team of 4 Supervisors and 16 Security Patrol Officers, ensuring a customer focussed and professional service delivery. I assist on providing a safe, secure and welcoming environment in which staff, students and visitor's of the University can carry out their business and activities.I maintain effective supervision of all on duty security staff throughout the shift. Supervision is maintained in accordance with the university policies and guidelines; e.g. Equality and Diversity at Work Policy, Health and Safety Policy, etc.I am responsible throughout the shift for the deployment of staff to meet operational requirements.Out of hours I take the responsibility for dealing with any incidents that occur at the University, acting as the point of contact/liaison for the emergency services and other external agencies. I inform any relevant persons of incidents requiring their knowledge or attention.I ensure the smooth running and administration of the shift, delegating duties as necessary. In particular I ensure that all reports and documentation are properly written up before the end of the shift and that hand-over procedures are carried out correctly.I am responsible for the Health and Safety of the staff during the shift and report any occurrences to the Security Manager.I am responsible for the ongoing training of Security staff.I deal with staff welfare and discipline issues that arise during the shift and to report any occurrences to the Security Manager.I am responsible for staffing levels on shift, a shift leave plan, requests for leave, lieu time, training commitments, overtime etc. ensuring that shift levels are maintained and do not fall below the minimum level designated by the Security Manager.I carry out other security related tasks as detailed by the Security Manager e.g. security fpr Royal VIP visits, Special Operations, Student Registration, Ceremonial Events, car park liaison etc.
