Founder and CEO of an emerging biopharma company located in Research Triangle Park, NC. K BioPharma is focused on the commercialization and development of a cross-therapeutic portfolio from phase I to full launch & commercialization. Key projects included license and development of 3 novel compounds for multiple sclerosis-induced spasticity, chemotherapy induced neuropathy and development of a novel treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Key successes also included commercialization of a novel antimicrobial (Bensal HP) leading to formation of SMG Pharmaceuticals while continuing to lead K BioPharma and serve as COO of SMG Pharma overseeing all aspects of operations and commercialization. Key accomplishments include sub-license agreement with Valeant Pharmaceuticals to market Bensal HP to dermatology; partnership with Quintiles Transnational; build-up of dedicated sales force and rapid market penetration of Bensal HP ($20MM run rate within first 6 months of launch); development of proprietary sales force automation software. Responsibilities spanned all aspects of commercialization (sales, sales operations, marketing, market research, price & reimbursement strategy, etc); oversight of investigator initiated trials, KOL development and scientific advisory boards; relationship management and governance of key partnerships (Valeant Pharmaceuticals, Quintiles, etc), strategic and tactical planning.

Seachaid Pharmaceuticals is focused on the discovery and development of novel anti-infectives to treat human diseases. Assisted the company on prioritization of R&D projects, input into business development and provided input into aspects of commercialization and marketing strategy until sale of company / exit in mid 2014.

As CEO, founded and led a successful biotech company located in the Research Triangle Park, NC area. CeNeRx built a recognized portfolio of novel drugs for the treatment of central nervous system disorders. Raised $60+ million in financing to advance a preclinical stage antidepressant (TriRima) to late phase II development, negotiated license of 2 additional clinical stage assets and a portfolio of preclinical assets. Key achievements included the approval of 4 INDs, prosecution and approval of 5 pivotal US patents (plus over a dozen secondary and non-US patents), multiple abstracts, posters & publications, development of an industry-leading scientific advisory board. Advanced a portfolio to meet areas of high unmet need in treatment resistant depression, Alzheimer’s disease, chemotherapy induced neuropathy and multiple sclerosis. CeNeRx has been recognized by independent NeuoInvestment Research as having one of the top four neuroscience portfolios in biotech for four consecutive years.

VP, Global Commercial Strategy – Neuroscience, GlaxoSmithKline PLC (GSK), responsible for commercial development of GSK’s phase I – III Neuroscience pipeline. In addition, oversaw global commercialization for marketed CNS products to include Paxil /CR, Wellbutrin /XL, Zyban, Lamictal, Imitrex and Requip.

As Paxil marketing director, managed GSK’s largest asset at the time achieving gross sales of $1.8 billion and was recognized as one of Advertising Age’s Top 100 Marketers (2000).
