Policy Network think-tank, London. UK was recently included in the University of Pennsylvania’s list of the sixty most influential think-tanks in Europe. I am responsible for undertaking research into a range of issues including: the impact of French President Emmanuel Macron on European Politics, the constitutional implications of the UK’s withdrawal from the EU on Anglo-Irish relations, and on the current state of British trade unions. I have copy-edited a forty chapter, single volume book entitled ‘Work in the digital age: challenges of the fourth industrial revolution’, which was produced in association with das Progressive Zentrum, Berlin and the University of Sussex. January 2018-.

Working on digitalisation and active labor policies (ALMPs) and on the organisation and governance of employment centres at the Department of Management and Production Engineering DIGEP (project DIGIPAL).

I teach on the introduction to Political Science course, and I convened a week-long workshop on the political economy of ‘Brexit’.

I’m based at the European Studies Centre where I'll be continuing my research and organising some events.

I designed and delivered a series of twelve lectures on 'The Political Economy of the European Union', for INSTEP: Cambridge - Institute of Economic and Political Studies (Study Abroad Programme). This covered a review of the origins, institutions, actors and policies of the European Union, the theories of European integration, and the main crises, challenges and strengths of the European project today.

I was responsible for organising and delivering a two day symposium on the work of James Joyce and Samuel Beckett. The symposium attracted a stellar cast of speakers and participants from academia and the arts, including: John Banville, Lisa Dwan, Roy Foster, Declan Kilberd, and Edna and Michael Longley.

Lecturer, ‘Managing employee relations’ course for the MA in Human Resource Management, Lord Ashcroft International Business School, Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, UK. The course introduced students to the politics of the workplace, and to the nature of workplace democracy. I designed and delivered twelve lectures, facilitated workshops to contribute to the students' continuing professional development, and set and graded course work and a final paper.

I designed and delivered residential educational programmes for secondary school students on ‘The UK & Brexit – legal perspectives’, and I continue to mentor and support students from disadvantaged backgrounds with their preparations for applying to university through my association with the Trust.

Pembroke College, Cambridge, Admissions office. While completing my PhD research I was asked to assist the admissions team with the administration and organisation of the undergraduate admissions process for two consecutive years (October 2016-December 2017).

Research Assistant, to Dr Sarah Nouwen, British Academy (BA) funded ‘Making and Breaking Peace in Sudan and South Sudan: The ‘Comprehensive’ Peace Agreement and Beyond’. My responsibilities included the organisation of workshops, and the provision of administrative and editorial support for the preparation of an edited volume (July 2015-September 2017).

Supervisor/Tutor, ‘The Politics of Europe’ (Pol. 13) and ‘Comparative Politics’ (Pol.4) courses, Department of politics and international studies, University of Cambridge. I met with students, set and graded work, and delivered feedback to students on behalf of Dr Chris Bickerton and Dr Pieter Van Houten.

I undertook fieldwork for my PhD during this time. This coincided with the most tumultuous phase of Greece's Troika bailout experience, including the referendum on the terms of the country's third bailout, and the reelection of the Syria-led government. I interacted with several key actors in Greek politics, trade unionism and academia during this time, and contributed to radio interviews in Ireland and the UK regarding the politics of the Greek crisis.

I undertook fieldwork for my PhD, and participated fully in events and initiatives at ETUI, and made myself useful to other researchers (primarily through proof-reading and copy-editing).

Senior Teaching Assistant, ‘The Foundations of Management Thought’, Quinn School of Business University College Dublin, Ireland, under Prof Séamus Kelly. I delivered classes on the history of ideas, and introduced students to research methods and essay writing skills.

Research Assistant EU Commission funded report: ‘Survey on the Governance and Adaptation to Innovative Modes of Higher Education Provision’ (GAIHE) with RAND Europe and the Higher Education Policy Research Unit (HEPRU) the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT). My responsibilities included the preparation and dissemination of a qualitative survey, and the analysis and writing-up of the survey findings for the project’s final report, using both quantitative and qualitative methodologies (January-July 2014)

Research Assistant to Prof Kenneth Armstrong, Director of the Centre for European Legal Studies, Faculty of Law, University of Cambridge. I undertook a wide-ranging literature review of the current academic literature on Economic and Monetary Union, which was used to support an ultimately successful funding application.

Wolfgang Wessels (2015) ‘The European Council’, London; London; Palgrave, European Union series.I copy-edited and proof-read Prof Wessels’ manuscript, going through four full drafts, and making several hundred revisions, suggestions and comments.

Secretarial assistant to Ciara Conway TD (MP) for Waterford, Dáil Éireann (Irish Parliament): My responsibilities included: managing the Deputy’s diary and constituency office, dealing with queries from constituents, interacting with government departments, dealing with the media, preparing parliamentary questions, and attending briefings (August 2011 to February 2012; June 2013-September 2013).

Parliamentary assistant to Richard Howitt, Labour Party Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the East of England (part-time): I was responsible for helping to manage the MEP’s diary and his constituency office, for dealing with queries from constituents, stakeholders and the media, and for managing the deputy’s successful re-selection (for the 2014 European elections) in 2013.

Francis Vals Programme trainee, European Parliament (Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists & Democrats; International Trade, Development and Human Rights Unit), Brussels, Belgium: My responsibilities included: researching topics and preparing briefings, attending committee meetings, preparing voting lists, and coordinating seminars.

Coordinator and founder of the HSE NOSP (Irish Health Service Executive, National Office for Suicide Prevention) sponsored Please Talk mental health initiative, (www.pleasetalk.org): I initiated and delivered this initiative to 30 Higher Education institutions throughout Ireland, successfully securing Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF) funding in 2008 (August 2008-January 2011). Between 2011-2013 the initiative was administered by 'ReachOut.org, and In 2013, the initiative was adopted by Shine (a charity, www.shine.ie), and a part-time member of staff is employed to administer the initiative.

Full-time directly-elected Officer, UCD Students’ Union Welfare Vice-President (2006-07), President (2007- 08). I represented students’ interests to the university, to government and to the media, led campaigns, and served two years as a university governor.
