As Group CIO of Noble group, Asia's largest diversified commodities trading company, I was globally in charge of technology as well as the global change and transformation agenda. I also managed the global procurement function.I was also the CTO in charge of all the in house development, I defined the global development strategy and platform and used some of the latest methodologies like Agile and Scrum together with some of the latest technologies to build innovative systems such as trading, back office and risk management solutions, supply chain and logistics systems as well as client portals and websites etc. Many of these systems helped not only streamline the business but also gave Noble a competitive edge.I reported to the COO of Noble Group and reported to the Board of Directors twice a year as well as to the CEO and the management committee on a regular basis.I had a budget of over $100M, of which $25M was set aside in 2014 for transformation projects. I grew the technology team from 70 people globally to 300 permanent and contract staff. There were also a number of vendor systems (e.g. Brady, ITAS, Allegro, Amphora, Sungard, Openlink etc) to manage and well as some large 3rd party outsourced companies. I also internally outsource application support to Uruguay. With over 140 offices in more than 40 countries Noble dealt with a broad range of commodities from Hard commodities to Energy to Soft commodities. Noble owned and build assets such as Sugar Mills and Grain Silos in Brazil, Argentina and Ukraine and many other locations as well as running distribution, supply chain, logistics and trading businesses.I managed the technology across all of these different businesses and assets from trading, infrastructure, logistics, supply chain, research, ERP solutions, middle office, risk management, finance, treasury etc. This was a complex business that needed to be very tightly managed both in terms of projects, process, people, budgets and strategy.

Since the demise of Lehman Brothers in Sept 2008 and given my in depth knowledge of the Firm and the technology that had been build within Capital Markets, I was asked to stay by the PWC partners in order to help and advise them with the administration. I worked with PWC to map out what business functionality is required and how this would map to the technology required. Lehman Brothers used to have over 2,000 applications split across multiple locations and configured in many different ways using many different technologies. In effect I am working on a plan of mass consolidation of the existing Lehman Brother’s Systems & Technology in order to get the required systems working independently within London instead of globally and also where required modifying the existing systems or finding alternative solutions by using external vendors or by outsourcing.

Tasked with rebuilding the technology team and quadrupled its size to over 300 people in Europe and over 150 people in Mumbai, India, together with the hiring of key senior people. Working closely with the business I defined a number of strategic and tactical re-engineering projects in order to meet and deliver against the business priorities for the Fixed Income Front Office.
