Barry Harrington began working for Kofax just after graduating with a BSCS from National University. He began in the Pre-Sales department, answering questions about the products, filling literature requests, and doing demonstrations of the company product for potential customers. Harrington was promoted to developer support. In this role he supported developers using the product developer toolkit to write imaging applications. Harrington was again promoted to Regional Sales Engineer where handled the eastern half of the United States. In this role, Harrington handled all the technical sales and support for all the Kofax products along with the regional sales managers in the field.

Immediately following active duty and while attending National Univeristy as a full time student, Barry Harrington was hired as a technical support specialist to support the sales managers for the company's flagship software, Calendar Manager, on a DEC VAX. Harrington's role in the company required extensive communication skills to provide online demonstrations of the product and technical support.
