I first established my consulting practice in 1995 to help senior management teams grow their organizations in a strategic and sustainable way. Growth is my passion, since my entire career has been about building or leading growth initiatives in a broad range of industries. Over the past several years, I have increasingly focused my practice on nonprofit organizations.As a consultant with the Boston Consulting Group, I helped Fortune 500 companies assess competitive situations and develop growth strategies. As a co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of a venture-backed Internet startup, I raised over $12 million in venture capital and led the company’s growth for three years. As a VP of marketing and strategy for a billion-dollar discount department store chain, I led the development of the growth strategy for the core business while also initiating the launch of a new mail-order pharmacy business that was ultimately sold to Medco. And early in my career, I had the opportunity to build an in-store bakery division for a regional supermarket chain.For over 20 years, I have also advised nonprofit organizations large and small, both through pro-bono activity through Harvard Business School Alumni club's Community Action Partners (CAP) as well as through my own consulting practice. Ultimately, we did not grow fast enough, faced real challenges during the bursting of the "internet bubble," and were not able to attract a needed third round of capital, so we shut the company down after three years of operations.

Though not well known in major markets, ShopKo has survived and thrived in small markets in the upper mid-west and northwestern US that it now shares with Walmart, and is a $3B privately-held operation currently.I also developed the plan for, and launched a mail-order pharmacy business to support the company's retail pharmacy operations. This division achieved $70 million in sales in its first year, and was ultimately spun off and then acqured by Medco/Express Scripts.
