Honorably discharged from the Marine Corp in 1972 after serving as a Communications/Navigation technician and crew chief of CH-46 helicopters. As the squadron's night crew chief, I managed a crew that was responsible for ensuring the operational integrity of birds scheduled for the next morning's flights and was designated as the primary electrical systems instructor for students assigned to the squadron.After working in the construction trades for several years, I earned an Associate of Science Horticulture degree in 1979 that focused on fruit production (Pomology) and landscape construction.Upon graduation, I managed 3 peach producing farms in Florida with over 800 acres of producing trees.I made a transition into the landscape field in 1983, by starting a landscape maintenance business that grew into a full-service design and build company specializing in theme gardens, including water features, and the integration of structural elements into the project design.Coming to the Nashville area in the 90's, market conditions presented the opportunity to leverage the experience gained throughout the previous years of installing lighting as part of comprehensive landscaping projects. During the years since starting Softscapes Lighting Systems, I've been the initiator in correcting a faulty formula widely used in the industry for calculating voltage drop in lighting systems. I've developed innovative lighting techniques that have influenced new equipment development and designed a modular lighting products line.In March of 2013, I earned a Bachelor of Science of Information Systems from Strayer University. My major studies were in Database Development with a minor focus in Web Development. Using my study as the base of further study, I've developed a level of proficiency in CMSs (Content Management Systems) and am using this skill to implement a transition in a new service called exterior project management which leverages my past experience.
