About Barry Karnowski

During my employment at Nerd Corps (Now DHX) I had first hand experience with every aspect of our studio. While working as an animator I rendered and comp'ed shots, created my own layout for sections from storyboards and created scripts/tool sets to be used by animators (eventually creating an efficient workflow taught to all new animators).When I was promoted to Supervising Animator (our cross between Lead Animator and CG Supervisor) I worked with design, modeling and rigging to make sure that assets coming down the pipe for animators and rendering would work perfectly. I helped rig props, vehicles and characters, and worked with the animation directors to make sure that their vision would be supported by the rigs and the animators themselves.I taught animation seminars covering many aspects of animation workflow including character and facial animation techniques, cameras/cinematography and the basics of setting up action shots. With an extensive knowledge of our 3d software I helped out animators and other departments to solve problems and glitches. It never took me more than 24 hours to figure out something or create a workaround.As an Animation Director I felt that all of my skills and knowledge from previous experiences prepared me for the job. I became obsessed with cinematic technique and film theory and began sharing that obsession with animators during our weeklies lunch meetings.Over my 15 years of experience in the 3d industry I have stretched my skills across various genres. My experience stretches across a wide variety of genres including boys action (Storm Hawks, Hot Wheels: Battle Force Five, Slugterra), comedy (Minecraft: The Mini Series, League of Super Evil, Monster High), children's education (Blaze and the Monster Machines), to family oriented shows (Beat Bugs and Hello Ninja).I work incredibly hard when on the job and have an intense focus. I welcome feedback and criticism and cant wait to solve problems as they arise.
