Due to personal family responsibilities, decided to step back my role as VP, Commissioning at Blue Ridge Power. My new part-time role is technical advisor to the Commissioning organization; assisting the transition of leadership in preparation for my second attempt at retirement. It has been a challenging and wonderful adventure working for a great company such as Blue Ridge Power.

I was hired at Blue Ridge Power to establish and lead a stand-alone commissioning organization for utility scale solar facilities. Initial tasks included establishing job classifications, job descriptions, pay scales, career progression matrices, org charts, people planning and recruiting skilled professionals to fill key positions. Follow-on activities included development of commissioning plans, procedures, schedule templates, commissioning subcontract language, standard estimating practices, reports, training plans, etc. The goal was to have a fully functional team, executing project work utilizing standardized best practices and setting the commissioning standard for the solar industry within two years of beginning this journey. With the support of executive management and the help of a very talented team, this goal has been accomplished.

Provide support to all Fluor Business Lines for construction turnover execution with focus on early project planning, staffing, excellence in execution, construction training and oversight. Turnover is the final phase of construction; which includes the final check-out, cleaning and static testing up to mechanical completion, resulting in the transfer of jurisdictional control (care, custody and control) of a project’s systems from construction to the contractually responsible commissioning & start-up team. Lockwood Greene was purchased by CH2M Hill in 2003.Assigned to the Mechanical Group and worked on various projects. During this time, gained experience and training in HVAC design and layout, Machine Design, Piping design, Stress, Process, Equipment Design and Material Handling. Also was briefly involved in the government group assigned to the Savannah River Site project. In the process of obtaining ‘Q’ clearance when decision was made to work for Fluor Corporation.

Upon graduation from Clemson University, accepted position as project engineer at Woven Electronics. Assigned to the government group working on a Weapons Launch System for Hughes Aircraft. Responsible for the design and production line of various weapon control cabinets to be installed in nuclear attack-class submarines.
