Barry is a retired Employment Lawyer. He previously advised on all employment law issues, specialising in discrimination, senior executive severance and all aspects of unfair dismissal.During 27 years as a part-time Employment Tribunal Judge he gathered considerable experience in how to prepare and conduct employment tribunals, learning much from the qualities and errors of advocates. Barry is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. Also a Trustee and Director of both the Employers’ Network for Equality and Inclusion and of ResourceCAREER HIGHLIGHTS Barry was Head of Global Employment at an international law firm. He was also a part-time Employment Tribunal Judge from 1984 – 2011. He is a Founder Member of the Employment Lawyers Association and sat on its Management Committee Association until 2000. He was an active member of the Law Society’s Employment Law Committee for 14 years and a member of the Advisory Group of the Employers Forum on Age from 1996 – 1998. He is also a former Chair of the International Bar Association’s Discrimination Law Committee of which he was a member for 10 years.PUBLICATIONSBarry is an original co-author of Butterworths Employment Law Guide, a co-author of the Law Society Employment Law Committee recommending Age Discrimination Legislation and co-author of the Law Society Employment Law Committee recommending Disability Discrimination Legislation. Barry has published numerous articles and spoken at conferences around the world. He was a full-time academic for many years and continues as a Visiting Professor in Employment Law at Middlesex University.
