CurrentBarry has extensive experience in all aspects of retirement and benefit planning, including the design and implementation of retirement plans and executive compensation programs, the use of plan assets to make investments, the design of health and welfare programs, the restructuring and funding of retiree medical benefits, and ERISA litigation. He also is highly skilled in handling the many benefit issues that can arise in bankruptcies, mergers, and acquisitions.Barry has written extensively about employee benefits issues. His articles have appeared in The Journal of Pension Planning and Compliance, The Journal of Deferred Compensation, Benefits Law Journal, Tax Strategies, The Journal of Taxation of Investments, the New York State Bar Journal, PEO Insider, and A Complete Guide to Retirement Plans for Small Businesses. He is also the author and co-author of several National Association of Professional Employer Organizations (NAPEO) Legal Reviews, and has written chapters of books for three employee benefits-related organizations.Barry has spoken to not-for-profit entities regarding HIPAA privacy, and to the Chicago Bar Association on fiduciary issues under the Pension Protection Act of 2006. In addition, he was selected in 2006 as a fellow of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel. In 2010, he was selected as Pro Bono Partnership’s Volunteer of the Year.
