In January 2021 I joined the board as a Director of the Fairfax Multi-Academy Trust. I was immediately impressed, and continue to be impressed, by the commitment and dedication of all the management, staff, directors and associates I have encountered. My non-executive role is to challenge, investigate and provide support, always mindful that what's at stake are the future opportunities and well-being of our young. Whilst this is a very different environment to those in the automotive and software worlds, common threads appear, as ever. People and processes are already rising to the top, with their influence on impact and outcomes only too clear. I am learning every day about the challenges faced by those in education. In my role as Careers Link Director, I'll be seeking help and support to ensure pupils link their time in education with where they want to go when they leave. Awareness and aspiration are essential factors; it’s crucial that education and industry join up far better than they do now.
