In this role, I develop and apply cutting edge medical imaging methods to study human muscles throughout the lifespan. This includes training and using (inferencing) deep learning models to automatically extract key quantitative data from medical images. I use my highly developed critical analysis skills, statistical knowledge and domain-specific knowledge to gain and communicate key insights from our data.Key responsibilities:• Leadership of a 6-year, large-scale medical imaging (MRI) research study • Manage 8-10 staff & postgraduate students (fulltime and parttime).• Development of state-of-the-art magnetic resonance imaging acquisition methods.• Development of automated image analysis pipeline, including training, validation and inferencing of artificial intelligence methods (deep learning) to automatically segment MRI scans (PyTorch, UNet).• Monitor study progress and assure data quality.• Extract key scientific and clinical insights from data (e.g., using R visualization and statistical analysis tools).• Write and publish scientific papers in world-leading medical, engineering and imaging journals.• Communicate findings at (inter)national scientific conferences in imaging, medicine and engineering.• Report to internal and external stakeholders (incl. co-investigators, clinicians, radiographers).
