I started my work at the cementworks of ENCI IJmuiden (former CEMIJ). As an assistant I was working in the physical and chemical lab. Later on I became a researcher and kept this post for several years. I had pleasure to work with and learn from my superiors such as Wietse Buist (unfortunately deceased), Ronald de Vree (former BMC, now retired), Leo Dekker (now Mebin), Dr. Martin Hunger (now BASF), Mark van Halderen and Marcel Bruin (both still ENCI).In these years I was involved in several larger research-programms. I specialised me in the maturity method, heat development and control, freeze-thaw-resistance, Rapid Chloride Migration (RCM) and 'no-slump' concrete.In 2003 the cement works in IJmuiden became a production location and a separate Quality Center was established by ENCI in Rotterdam (in which both Quality Control West and Applied Concrete Research ENCI were housed). In 2006 all activities of the department Applied Concrete Research CBR were also accommodated in this new Quality Center. In the years thereafter I was a coordinator of the Applied Concrete Research team in Rotterdam and since 2012, together with Dr. Martin Hunger, I have become also responsible for the the Quality Lab of ENCI-West (IJmuiden and Rotterdam). In 2016 some structural changes in the organisation have been introduced and from November 2016 I am holding a function as Supervisor of the Applied Concrete Research team in Rotterdam.

I worked for several months at the CORUS Recruitment Department and was responsible for the registration of new temporary employees.

I worked for several months at the CORUS steel factory and was responsible for the quality of steel plates.
