Serve as the executive and senior command officer of the Department, responsible for all administrative and operational functions. Assures the efficient and effective delivery of emergency fire, medical and rescue services using volunteers. Provides for the delivery of educational and prevention programs to reduce risks to life, property and community vitality. Provides leadership and administrative direction to the Board to establish direction for the organization.Assures compliance consistent with the laws of the State of Texas and the policies of Weston Fire and Rescue. Performs the level of services as directed and authorized by the Board. Supervises and/or oversees the functional areas of administration services, emergency incident readiness and response, equipment management, facilities management, financial management, information management, personnel management, planning services and public relations under the direction of the Board. Acts as a liaison to local, state, and national agencies and professional associations to maintain knowledge of current fire protection management trends, laws, regulations and issues. Maintains a well-trained volunteer force support staff to provide customer service delivery. Manages the implementation of the strategic plan.Maintains a Strategic Plan, for approval by the Board, that projects a vision, mission, goals and objectives for the agency; resource needs for the future, including personnel, facilities, equipment and apparatus, based on expected growth or reduced service area in relationship to established performance objectives and available revenue resources. Develop and maintain an annual Business Plan, for approval by the Board that identifies projected revenue, planned expenditures and performance objectives to be accomplished during the coming budget year.

Responsible for enforcing all laws and adopting all regulations regarding the use, storage, and distribution of flammable or otherwise hazardous materials. Oversight of safety inspections of all state buildings, schools, and hospitals, as well as other public facilities in the fourteen rural counties. Sets fire and safety regulations for all buildings in the state except private residences and oversight of fire prevention and investigation training fatalities. Sets fire and safety standards for equipment and appliances, licenses fire protection industries, and certifies service personnel. Oversight of plan reviews for construction of new commercial buildings, schools, and multiple family buildings.Manage 23 employees (combination of sworn and non-sworn) Responsible for administrative, fiscal and operational functions of the Division Responsible for establishing the State minimum fire code and regulation Establishing regulations and standards for the licensing and credentialing of individuals performing industry fire protection activities Responsible for the oversight and delivery of fire origin and cause determination investigation services throughout the State Suppression and punishment of arson and fraudulent claims or practices in connection of fire losses Serves as the State Liaison to the Nevada Fire Service Works cooperatively with the State Forester in the preparation of regulations pertaining to wildfire prevention and hazard reduction Responsible for establishing and delivering fire service training based upon nationally recognized standards Coordinates activities related to federal grant funding programs for rural fire departments Fire prevention education Serves as Secretary to the Nevada Board of Fire Services Appointed as commissioner on the State Emergency Response Commission (SERC) Testify before legislature Serves as an advisor to the DPS Director and the Governor on Fire Service Issues
