As a postdoctoral researcher at WUR I am studying the relationships between land use change, landscape patterns, environmental quality and ecosystem services in the Dutch rural landscape. I use spatial analysis and non-market valuation techniques to estimate the effects of changing land management on the natural environment, and in turn how that affects our wellbeing.

My PhD study was part of the BIOWATER program, which has the goal of quantifying future effects of the transition to a bioeconomy for carbon, nutrient and water cycles and the delivery of major ecosystem services in Nordic countries. My study focused on quantifying the effects of several scenarios for bioeconomy development on delivery of provisioning, regulating and cultural ecosystem services by Nordic catchments to society.

I worked as a consultant specialized in soil quality assessment using GIS-based analysis, and have experience in advising municipalities on environmental policy through several secondments, focusing on waste and resources, soil quality and sustainable energy.

At MWH I started working as a consultant on soil quality, specialising in large scale GIS-based soil quality assessment. As a trainee, I also followed courses in both professional and technical skills. I also started expanding my knowledge and skills into the waste and resources field, where I advise on the evolution towards a circular economy.

As a graduate intern at NL Agency, I worked on a project sustainability assessment on the EnDev program for solar energy market development in rural Kenya. This included developing an assessment framework, project planning and working with a large variety of stakeholders, both in the Netherlands and in Kenya. Through performing and analyzing interviews and focus group discussions I successfully assessed the sustainability of market development of small solar lighting products in rural Kenya. The end result is currently being used in various African countries as a guideline for sustainable market development in the sector.
