I am working with ServiceXS/GenomeScan since 2007. Moreover, I have a honorary professorship with the Ruprecht-Karls University Heidelberg. My background is molecular genetics with a special interest in positional cloning and molecular diagnostics. After studying biology in Leiden, I obtained my PhD in Rotterdam. The identification of the TSC2 gene, causing tuberous sclerosis, was a highlight in my career, followed by a number of other genes relevant to human kidney disease that were identified: PKD1 causing autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease, the TSC1 gene, and CNDP1 involved in diabetic nephropathy. From 1996 to 2007 I led the molecular diagnostics laboratory at the Institute of Human Genetics in Heidelberg. After that, I worked for 14 years as Quality Manager at ServiceXS/GenomeScan, a Leiden-based service provider for genomics.Currently, I am employed as Manager CSR and Compliance at GenomeScan B.V. Hence, I manage GenomeScan's Regulatory Affairs and its Corporate Social Responsibilities. This position allows me to use my experience and my energy to contribute to a better world. The things that matter most deserve our immediate attention. Health and the quality of life of people in our community are good examples of that. I am happy that GenomeScan has the ambition to make the difference.
