The last internship of the education to be a Maritime Officer

As a Maritime Officer student I completed my first practice on board the Nordana Star. This vessel is of the multipurpose type and is owned by the company Symphony Shipping. For half a year I worked as an apprentice which meant I fulfilled jobs on deck, in the engine room and on the bridge. With movable tween deck pontoons and two 80 ton cargo cranes, the vessel was able to ship bulk-, general-, project-, and heavy cargoes.

As a Mise en Place Job’er I’ve worked in the hospitality industry. My work experience is very diverse: restaurants (from pancake restaurants till registered Michelin guide restaurants), festivals (like Concert at Sea and Lowlands), hotels, large sport events and all kinds of parties (like weddings etc.). The responsibilities are as diverse as the jobs, I’ve worked as a waiter, barman, supplier and have often the responsibility as supervisor.

As assistant of the head coach I trained the new students.

When working as an assistant harbormaster I supported the harbormaster with the daily work in the harbor. The renting out of sailing boats was one of my main responsibilities. As an instructor I thaught unexperienced sailors the basics of sailing. The lessons took place in an open sailing boat of 7 meters with a fixed keel, also known as the Valk.
