Possible Hybrid formation in the species Malassezia furfur. Creation of a MLST database of multiple M. furfur strains was based on four genetic regions. PCR products of these genes were cloned in a vector and expressed in E. coli. Divergences observed by sequencing and microscopic observations contributed to the hypothesis of existence of (innerspecial) hybrids in M. furfur.

Based on information of Aspergillus fumigatus which contains SNPs related to azole resistance, CYP51A of A. flavus was investigated. The CYP51A gene was screened in 210 A. flavus strains by PCR, Real-time PCR and High Resolution Melting (HRM).
