  Bart Ward, Ph.D., CPABart Ward earned a Ph.D. in Accounting and Information Systems at Northwestern University. He then served as an officer in the U.S. Army Finance Corp before joining the accounting faculty at The University of Texas at Austin. Subsequently, he accepted a faculty position with his alma mater, The University of Oklahoma. In more than 20 years at OU he served as Director of the School of Accounting, and as the first holder of the KPMG Peat Marwick Centennial Professorship. In mid-career, Ward chose to focus more on academic leadership. He accepted the Deanship of the Hasan School of Business at Colorado State University at Pueblo. Subsequently, he became the Dean of the Meinders School of Business at Oklahoma City University. Dr. Ward also served as OCU’s Vice President for Academic Affairs. For a few years, before retiring, Prof. Ward returned to teaching and scholarship serving as Professor of Accounting and Dr. Henry J. Freede Chair in Teaching Excellence at OCU. During his professional career, Prof. Ward received several awards for teaching both in the classroom and as a leader of continuing education courses for CPAs. Ward published more than two dozen articles and books, served on the editorial board of the leading research journal in auditing, and was co-recipient of the national annual Wildman Award for outstanding contribution to the professional accounting literature. He was once honored as the International Business Dean of the Year. He served in national leadership positions for the American Institute of CPAs, the American Accounting Association, and the Financial Executives Institute. Happily retired, he and his wife now live in their home town, Norman, Oklahoma.
