I started my professional career with civil society organizations in Belgium. Looking for a new challenge, I moved to Paraguay where I continued my career as a volunteer coordinator at an NGO. I had the opportunity to form new networks and to influence in policy by being one of the initiators of drafting a law on volunteering and civic participation. The law was approved in July 2018. Thanks to those experiences, I was able to take another step through a new job at the National Planning Bureau for Economic and Social Development of Paraguay as a specialist in social innovation and as a project coordinator. The aim was to stimulate social innovation in the national and regional context. This was made possible through several initiatives such as creating the first national volunteer program that brings public services closer to vulnerable populations and involving them in their development processes and through organizing a competition for social innovation projects in collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). For example, I managed several south-south cooperative projects with partner countries such as Chile, Peru and Colombia and gave presentations in Mexico, Chile, Brazil, Guatemala, Peru and Colombia.Partly due to targeted knowledge management, I was able to publish a manual with a method I developed myself about social innovation for participatory development processes. This was made possible by exchanging information at a regional level, registering good practices and analyzing methodologies such as design thinking, systems thinking, rapid rural appraisal, community readiness model and design for behavior change.Furthermore, I am familiar with using project management programs, monitoring and evaluation strategies, motivational working with staff, using planning methods such as a logical framework, theory of change and a value chain for social programs.I am looking for a unique opportunities to use my experience in new environments working to influence in policies about development cooperation, social innovation and/or citizen participation.
