As a Partner Development Manager Recruit, I support high-potential SaaS companies to grow with our platform and solutions leveraging a combination of business development and technical insights to realize successful partnerships.

As a university valorisation director I helped industrial players understand IDLab innovation, to drive forward 5G/6G and AI solutions. I coordinated a team of business developers to realise exactly this impact. I defined the valorization strategy of our research group, managing IP and contracting for larger contracts.

Building on my research experience, as a senior business developer I support the valorisation of our research group IDLab's knowledge in the domains of Internet of Things, 5G and Artificial Intelligence. I continue working on my passion Smart Cities, adding the fascinating domain of Artificial Intelligence and Edge AI in particular. You will find me setting up partnerships with major industrial players, developing strategic research projects and speaking at public or private events about artificial intelligence and its future.

Within the imec City of Things initiative, we study Smart Cities by means of an experimental facility deployed in the City of Antwerp. The project is comprised of research at network technology level, big data level and living labs / business modelling level. For industry City of Things offers the opportunity to validate IoT technology in a realistic environment, building on imec expertise in IoT, big data and living labs. As a senior researcher I perform a number of tasks. including City of Things strategy preparation & execution for our team, business development and (EU) research project acquisition & management.

As a postdoctoral researcher at imec (formerly iMinds), I continued to work in the offices of the university of Antwerp, while working on European and Flemish projects, such as the FP7 project CONFINE on community networks for the Future Internet, the festivals of the future project iFEST and the connected bicycles project CONAMO.

I shaped opportunities to bring IDLab research on AI and 5G/6G to industry. At the University of Antwerp, the industrial research fund (IOF) enables groups such as IDLab to create this research impact, to bring academic knowledge to industry to realise joint next steps. As an IOF manager, I guided you to help realise innovation based on IDLab knowledge.

As a senior researcher, I contribute to the interplay between research and valorisation at IDLab Antwerp. I work on research project proposals or bilateral agreements, focused on smart cities, Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence at the Edge.

As a PhD student I applied ideas from ad-hoc networks and wireless sensor networks (the precursor to IoT) to connect sensors on the human body for advanced health care, in the field of Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs). One of the research projects I contributed to is the Flemish IBBT project IM3, including cooperation with NXP.As a teaching assistant, I taught classes in Telecommunications to first and third Bachelor students, combining theoretical and more applied (mathematical concepts).

During the weekends I am available for photography gigs, mostly weddings and portraits.

After work, I am a partially self employed ICT consultant, available for small jobs. My main client portfolio includes SMEs and non-for-profit organisations, looking for general support and website customisations.

I am passionate about technology, but I also love to relax without screens. As an accredited windsurfing instructor, I taught children ages 10-18 windsurfing, for a full week. As a result of the courses I taught, children would go from complete newbie to feeling at ease on the water in moderate conditions.

As a vice-editor-in-chief I coordinated the student magazine together with the editor-in-chief, learning how to manage a team from diverse backgrounds: writers and photographers, humanities students and STEM students.

As an editor I wrote articles for the University of Antwerp student magazine dwars and managed the website. During the interviews I prepared and wrote I discovered the structures behind a large organisation such as a university.

I returned to work as a student in the engineering department, further learning how to manage a very high availability network from the operational team.
