Profile bio

About Bart Brooks

I am currently Product Strategy Lead at Nasdaq; my focus is on the Nasdaq.com homepage, global nav, and other key site elements. My job is to create a digital destination that enhances Nasdaq's web presence, increase lead gen, provide opportunities for our marketing and communications team, and display our world-class market data.Previously, I was the web producer for Nasdaq.com, where I grew our audience for business news content on our site. We have since pivoted away from a business news, retail investor-oriented approach towards a more B2B-focused approached, and my new responsibilities include helping manage that transition. As web producer, I helped grow the News section of Nasdaq.com from the ground up to supplement our Market Activity section. The News section ultimately comprised of 22-25% of website traffic (compared to 60% for Market Activity), bringing in millions of dollars in annual ad revenue, with millions of monthly visitors. At NJ.com/SILive.com, my job entailed several responsibilities, including maintaining both homepages by curating the best content available with enticing art and language designed to drive page views. In addition to managing the homepage, I was involved with a number of projects at any given time, depending on priority. This could entail anything from creating pages (such as nj.com/chris-christie) to overseeing and coordinating prom coverage (a huge traffic driver). I was also the point person for our Search Engine Optimization (SEO) efforts and worked with reporters to monitor trends and optimize our content. I also worked with several bloggers and trained them in the use of our content management system, SEO and social media outreach. At BostonNOW, I maintained our website and posted all of our stories and managed the home page. I also worked with our community bloggers to develop their content, which often appeared in the newspaper.Specialties and skills: Copy writing and editing, generating story ideas, Movable Type, HTML, Omniture, Google Analytics, Drupal, Axios HQ (newsletter program), Marketo/Knak, project management, audience engagement and analysis

Listed skills include Html, Movable Type, Seo, Newspaper, and 16 others.

Product Strategy Lead

Current

New York, New York, United States

I am overseeing the Nasdaq.com homepage, global nav, and other key sitewide elements from a product strategy lead point of view. For most of my career, Nasdaq.com's business news section was B2C oriented, and the vast majority of our site visitors are retail investors looking to make smart investing decisions for their portfolios, and it had been my job to cater to that audience. In early 2024, Nasdaq's leadership has pivoted to making the website almost entirely aimed at a B2B audience, and my part is to help facilitate that transition, with a focus on audience intelligence, lead gen, gathering first party data, telling the Nasdaq story, and leveraging emerging technologies such as AI to better understand our users and to create a premier user experience for potential customers and clients.

Apr 2024 - Present

Web Producer, Marketing Director

Greater New York City Area

I managed and oversaw business news content that appeared on Nasdaq.com, working with a number of writers, contributors, and syndication partners, doing everything from managing partnerships, onboarding writers, helping develop story ideas, copy editing their work, publishing it through our CMS, leveraging best SEO practices, and more.In addition, I also helped manage and update key site areas (such as the homepage and other sections), build new sections, develop newsletters, study audience metrics and trends, troubleshoot and validate technical work done by our dev team, collaborate with our UX, sales, and marketing teams, and more.I use HTML, Microsoft Office, Adobe Analytics (and Omniture SiteCatalyst), Jira, Tridion, Photoshop, and other tools.

Dec 2013 - Jul 2024

Producer, News

Morristown, Nj

My primary responsibility was to manage the homepage for NJ.com and SILive.com. In addition, I helped train our newsrooms in SEO best practices, managed the Parental Guidance vertical and the bloggers who contributed to that section, assisted our users and newspaper partners when they had technical issues, revised pages, took on numerous special projects and much more.

Feb 2013 - Nov 2013

Associate Producer

Jersey City, New Jersey; Morristown, New Jersey

I managed the homepage, updating it in the mornings, afternoons, and sometimes on nights and weekends. I learned and shared SEO tips and tactics with our newsroom partners. I developed pages and engaged in projects designed to maintain or enhance NJ.com and SILive.com, and to generate more website traffic. Some examples include building a page dedicated to our popular 'Real Housewives of New Jersey' page; updating our site index; rebuilding our Contact Us page, and more. I also helped manage our Proms coverage, wrote content as needed (including, it must be said, Power Rankings for MTV's Jersey Shore, but more usually articles that were either SEO plays or meant to engineer audience engagement). I also developed a popular special photo gallery series focused on real estate listings (this was well before Zillow Gone Wild!), which generated substantial, reliable pageviews.

Jun 2008 - Feb 2013

Producer

Advance Internet

(See NJ.com section)

Jun 2008 - Nov 2013

Interactive Media Editor

I was responsible for coordinating the efforts of the print edition with the BostonNOW.com website mainly by performing content management tasks, interacting with our bloggers, working with the newspaper to bring more elements of the website to print and coming up with innovative, user-driven content. The main focus of my job was publishing print articles on BostonNOW.com and collaborating with our bloggers. BostonNOW shut down in April 2008, because of Iceland's economy (no, really -- feel free to ask me about it).

Jan 2008 - Apr 2008

Travel Editor

As Travel Editor, I was responsible for generating or obtaining content for the print edition of the newspaper, copyediting or writing the content myself. I also did a little bit of layout work for the print edition, and generated multimedia aspects to our stories for our web site.
