Software Lead, Tactical ROVER-e hand-held military radio.Lead all phases of development on this “from scratch” radio. Completely new hardware platform. Coordinated software activity and assignments. One person commented, “this is probably the best software that we have ever released.” Developed video test with artificial metadata.Software Lead, SIR (Soldier ISR Receiver).Developed software to send/receive control signals to/from an active Ku antenna. Developed software to handle incoming IP Disclosure messages and appropriately configure the radio. Added significant ease-of-use for the customers.Software Lead, ROVER 5 & ROVER 5i hand-held military radios.Developed software for Line-21 (closed caption) processing from a TVP5150 (video decoder) over a IC2 bus. Various proprietary GUI changes. Added thermal shutdown to avoid damaging the radio. Redesigned python-based installation program to a more object-oriented configuration which handed new hypervisors to significantly broaden the virtualization customer base.Implemented low-level code for Systems Management Architecture for Server Hardware (SMASH) development thus allowing user-level management applications to display system information.Designed and developed a Computer Information Model (CIM)-based Health Monitoring System (HMS) to ensure users had access to management information.Designed and developed a python-based installation program for the full suite of Novell products to ensure a positive user-experience.

Ported Linux to the ArTile TX7901 and created a Board Support Package (BSP) (MIPS-based).Ported Linux to the NEC Rockhopper (MIPS-based) and created a BSP.Ported Linux to the MIPS Malta and created a BSP.Developed a Python-based automated test suite with shell and HTML interfaces to replace our test team.

Co-designed Virtual Memory system on NetWare to allow better usage of memory resources. Designed and implemented aging and paging algorithms and physical memory balancing code.Lead Engineer/Architect on NetWare for OS/2. Met impossible marketing deadline. Designed interaction between the concurrently running operating systems to allow responsible performance. Designed and implemented sharing and load balancing of resources between operating systems: disk, physical/virtual memory and processor scheduling.Enhanced IPX protocol stack by using hardware/software profilers and algorithm redesign to achieve a 50% performance improvement in LAN traffic. Completely rewrote the SPX protocol stack.Wrote software and designed hardware to test various hardware components (network adapters, keyboards, printing ports, etc.) to verify proper operation for quality assurance.
