Within Voortman my task is to develop new technologies and machines. For the development of new machines also the testing phase is very important, so I also play an active role in testing the newly developed equipment.

I am currently part of the rapidly growing engineering location of Huisman Twente. Over the last year we have grown on this location to a number of 11 people working full-time on the design and structural check of the heavy lifting and pipelay equipment that Huisman Equipment designs, produces and delivers to clients all around the world.

Development of a general-purpose multibody simulation environment in Matlab/Simulink, incorporating the elastic deformation of the bodies. Deformation is described using mode shapes obtained from prior FEM simulations.The result of the graduation project was the delivery of an interesting Simulink library, consisting of several blocks to model the dynamics of multibody system. Custom C++ code was incorporated using S-functions to speed up the simulation process; the constrained equations of motion of the system were dynamically assembled upon initialization of a simulation.

During my time at Boskalis I developed a testing rig to benchmark several systems for force measuring.
