I work as a self-employed guest speaker and teacher in the area of research. I collaborate with universities and independent organizations where I design tailor-made presentations or courses with the aim of teaching people about science, the scientific method and how to do science.Some examples:Effectief Onderwijs, Sneek: I designed and taught a course spanning half a year in Research Methods for teachers working in Special Needs schools to provide them with the necessary tools to do independent, scientifically sound, research, with the aim of improving their education system.SPO, Groningen: I helped design and am currently teaching (for 3 years now) a course spanning two months in Research Methods in the Social Sciences for HBO students who want to move on to academic masters.

- Supervising 10 master's and 23 bachelor's theses, as well as 10 master's internships.- Teaching courses such as "Self-Regulation in Health Behaviour", "Doing Multidisciplinary Research in the Social Sciences", "Intra- and Intergroup Processes", "Theory and Intervention", "Nudging", "Power, Leadership, and Decision Making", and coaching students.- Coordinating all bachelor research of the Social and Organizational Psychology department.- Coordinating bachelor internships (a new initiative) of the entire Psychology department.- Aiding in the coordination of internationalization efforts towards creating an international language master by translating course info and materials and establishing contacts with internationally oriented companies offering non-Dutch internships.- Shaping and giving career trainings to master students to help them find out who they are, what they want, what motivates them, and to help them prepare for the job market.- Organizing job events with alumni speakers intended for all master students of the department. - Organizing extra-curricular activities such as game nights and group outings.

During my time as a PhD candidate I investigated how the communication of prototypical conflict emotions like anger and contempt would either positively or negatively affect intergroup conflict. I thereby specifically focused on their relational functions. This has resulted in 3 publications and 2 articles under review.National and international talks at conferences and universities as an invited speaker in:- Stockholm (SWE), San Diego (USA), Limerick (IRL), Zeist, Enschede, Amsterdam, Utrecht, Leiden (all NLD), etc.Ad hoc reviewer for several scientific peer reviewed journals: - European Journal of Social Psychology (EJSP), Association Sociaal Psychology Onderzoek (ASPO) year book, Social Psychological and Personality Science (SPPS)University teaching experience:- Master students' thesis supervision- Workgroup teacher in methodology and reseach practical courses including: Statistics I and II, and Research Methods.- Invited lecturer in courses such as: "Psychology in Communication"; "Emotions"; "Intergroup Relations"; "Applying Theories to Real World Problems"

- Treasurer of the Faculty Student Council- Founder and chairman of the newly founded Year Representatives Committee. I founded this committee to provide students in the first 2 years of academia with the possibility of giving feedback on all matters that concerned them, including facilitory, educational and broader departmental changes. As the student council, we used input from this committee as agenda points in our meeting with the faculty board. This proved highly succesful in improving students' educational satisfaction.
