Hello! I'm Bart de Vries, the Head of Customer at Bustle, a New Zealand founded, global SaaS business in the hospitality tech sector. I am an ambitious entrepreneur, physiotherapist, and Edmund Hillary Fellow. I'm passionate about building products and experiences that promote health, performance and environmental sustainability in simple but powerful ways. Started by experiencing back pain at age 12 (and all through my youth) my journey kicked off with a genuine interest in health and performance. It was then nurtured during my time as a professional hockey player and as a physiotherapist to elite athletes and teams. Combining my expertise in physiotherapy with an entrepreneurial spirit, I founded Limber. We're known for crafting what UC Berkeley professors have called "the world's healthiest desks" and pioneering the first floor-to-standing dynamic desk in the world. Our mission? Get people moving more to cut global disability from back pain in half by 2050.As a passionate advocate for green business innovation, I played a pivotal role in initiatives like Climathon NZ and the Wellington Zero Carbon Challenge. In partnership with Victoria University of Wellington, Wellington City Council, Callaghan Innovation, Ministry for the Environment, Deloitte and others, these endeavours were dedicated to fostering new and early stage ventures that not only reduce emissions but also enhance resilience in New Zealand. through this wen ignited and grew of dozens of new and young ventures in Wellington like Mevo, Verdure Surf, Froth Technology, Reusabowl (now Fussy), Switched On Bikes to name a few. I love solving problems, asking curious questions and getting stuff done. As the Board Chair for Enspiral, I helped deliver a crucial financial remodel to ensure the community's sustainability. Recently I have led the rebrand, systems redesign, and strategic development for Disastrous, an education and innovation platform for those working in disasters on the climate frontier. the result being significant growth and deeper customer engagement.As an Edmund Hillary Fellow, I join a global community of innovators dedicated to creating positive impact. This fellowship enables me to collaborate with visionary entrepreneurs and leverage the global ecosystem to drive transformative projects.I'm passionate about tackling challenges that intersect people, systems, and complexity in delightful ways. As a part of the Global series created by the EU's Climate-KIC for 4 years I was a lead organiser here in Wellington, connecting inspired people with the expertise and resource to make their ideas happen. We brought this event about by bringing a range of key partners and funders together, including Wellington City Council, Victoria University of Wellington, Deloitte, Callaghan Innovation, and Ministry for the Environment. Every year that I lead this initiative, Wellington had the largest attendance of any of the participating cities (130 cities including New York, London, Barcelona and more). In 2015 we were invited to COP21 where our winning team pitched their idea to a global audience of investors and Paris Accord was signed. -

This resulted in an invitation to be in Paris for COP21 and deepen Wellington and New Zealand's connections with Europe and climate change innovation, as well as spread the word of New Zealand being the greatest place to kick something off the ground, an incubator to solve some of the worlds trickiest problems.
