I am professor and PI at Aarhus University where I seek to establish a collaborative team that examines, describes, and uses microbial processes to deliver environmental services. With over 25 years of experience in this field, I have a PhD in Environmental Science and Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and multiple publications in high-impact journals.My core competencies include microbiome engineering, environmental/public health engineering, biotechnology, water (bio) technology, microbial ecology, bioremediation/biorecovery, research management, grant writing, international collaboration, and public speaking. I am passionate about ideating, initiating, facilitating, coordinating, and leading projects and people at the interface of life science and engineering. I am also interested in the interface of science, policy, innovation, and application, and I have provided professional advice and consulting to various organizations on water, environment, and health issues. My mission is to put the "Microbiome Engineering" paradigm into practice, and to support society and environment with biotechnological solutions.
