As Manager Projects I manage the project management department and I am responsible for all De Voogt’s engineering services on projects. This concerns all projects that De Voogt executes for the Feadship yards: Royal van Lent Shipyards, Koninklijke De Vries Scheepsbouw and De Vries Scheepsbouw Makkum. These engineering services consist of the Contract & Basic Design from the disciplines of Naval Architecture, Structural, Mechanical, Interior and Exterior Engineering. Responsibilities include:- Developing the strategic agenda for Van Oord with respect to project planning and risk and their interfaces with the organisation;- Creating a professional team of project planners and risk managers (in 2018 50 FTE, active in Asia, South Amerika, Middle East and Europe);- Embedding the department in Van Oord's standing organization, including the creation of added value to tenders and projects;- Developing and implementation of processes, work methods, SOP's and quality standards to run an efficient and effective department;- Obtaining all necessary products and licenses to run the department.

Leiden

Responsible for Heerema Marine Contractor's (HMC) global planning, document control and project secretaries departments with offices in Leiden, London, Houston and Perth. The departments provide project services for the preparation and execution ofHMC's offshore EPCI, Transport, Installation and Removal tender & project portfolio with a value of over 3 billion dollars. • General Management of one of HMC's global knowledge departments (around 80 FTE) in the most effective and cost-efficient way. • Reorganized and integrated the Planning, Document Control and Project Secretaries Departments (Avg. BSc degree and over 10 different nationalities) and realized significant operational and financial synergies increasing profitability per employee. • Developed and implemented standard operating procedures & processes, KPI's and quality standards for the department. • Optimized the interface between the department and other HMC departments aiming at the optimization and aligning of work methodologies.In addition to the above, being responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation phases of the transport and installation of the new 6,000-ton Alba PSC B3 gas compression platform offshore Equatorial Guinea.• Managing a multi-site project team of technical and non-technical experts.• Project running from 2012 up to 2016.

Vlaardingen Area, Netherlands

Responsible for various strategic projects related to the acquisition of Norfolkline by the DFDS Group. • Managed the business plan and budget creation, the acquisition of terminal space and the design, tender and construction phases of a marine terminal in The Netherlands. Led the internal project team and managing all external public and commercial teams involved. Budget responsible for around EUR 12 million and an implementation timeframe of 1 year. Delivery on time and within budget. • Interim management of Europe's largest trailer workshop (40 FTE), with a specific focus on business process alignment and change management.• Responsible for the sale of the former Norfolkline head office in The Hague and the move of all activities to Vlaardingen, The Netherlands.

Zeebrugge, Belgium

Overall responsible for the commercial, operational and financial performance of a new business unit active in the European Ro-Ro & Ro-Pax markets. • Managed the start-up and growth phases of the new venture. Within an eight months timeframe, expanded the team to 120 employees and organized the operational and commercial activities of the business unit, including all required contract negotiations with governments and commercial entities, including port authorities, terminal and vessel owners. Thereafter successfully integrated this start-up into an existing business unit.• Grew sales revenue to approximately EUR 30 million and increased the b-to-b client base to 150 logistic operators. Managed bottom-line performance for the business unit and realized an operational cost savinf of 10% against budget.• Developed an appropriate business strategy and key account management plans for the business unit with a focus on the container, trailer, trade car, special cargo and passenger shipping markets.• Led change management, outsourcings and process optimization processes and introduced and imbedded lean management techniques and Key Performance Indicators.

Responsible for corporate and business strategy design and implementation for the Norfolkline Group and Ferry Division. • Managed a team designing a future growth strategy for the Norfolkline Group aimed at doubling the net result within a 5-year timeframe. Internal stakeholder: Executive Management Board A.P.Moller-Maersk Group. As a direct consequence of the recommendation the Norfolkline Group was divested to DFDS.• Designed a business strategy for the divsion based on a scenario analysis of the European ferry and transport market.• Responsible for the successful completion of several business cases aimed at the development of new ventures in Belgium, The Netherlands and the United Kingdom and at the acquisition of strategic assets with a value of over EUR 140 million.

Overall responsible for the funding, design, construction and go-live of a major marine terminal in Vlaardingen, The Netherlands.• Responsible for the contract negotiations with and contract management of all public and commercial entities involved in the project. Commercial entities included authorities, governmental organizations, consultants, civil and marine contractors and suppliers. • Managed a project team of 10 employees and a budget responsibility for over EUR 70 million. • Each project phase delivered on time and in accordance with the operational, quality and financial KPI’s set. • Total savings of 5% of the project budget were realized.
