If I could have a do-over in another life, I’d like to be a neuroscientist. I’m completely fascinated by the science behind human behaviour, cognition, and emotions. Yet, here I am - a growth marketer with 13 years deep in eCommerce and marketplaces, not a neuroscientist. Still, connecting the dots now, I feel I’ve found an opportunity to apply a scientific approach to unfold human behaviour, just through a different lens.So far, I can divide my journey into two phases.1) Marketing Roles in Marketplaces: My full-time work in organisations. First, I was at eBay - the large scale, then HousingAnywhere - the agile startup. Both marketplaces, serving both ends of the deal table: seller and the buyer. The continuous shift in supply and demand makes the marketing pursuit a bit more complicated but exhilarating. To maximise growth, you need to build adaptive systems to capture ever-changing product trends, supply and demand. This phase taught me achieving growth is channelling efforts where they matter most, systematically and consistently.2) Black Rooster - My Boutique eCommerce Agency: Co-founder and managing director. I operate in two distinct areas at Black Rooster. First, I consult eCommerce brands and VCs on customer acquisition, growth and performance marketing. The nature of the consultancy projects varies from due diligence processes to the development of eCommerce growth strategies, or assessments of marketing operations and teams to address specific growth challenges. Second, I help craft user experiences through Shopify stores and I ensure the stores we build tick like clockwork. And every day, as a small business owner, I wear all kinds of hats.
