Launched this enterprise in 1998 to help village-based handicraft artisans find a profitable market for high quality, eco-friendly craft product. I provide design, technical, and marketing assistance to the groups I work with such as mat weavers from Medinipur; Bamboo artisans from Malda and Medinipur; Sitalpati weavers from Cooch Behar. The products are retailed through craft boutiques and exhibitions.

To ensure sustainability of the craft project for the artisans previously trained under the Manjusha project, I was entrusted to work with them to provide further training and market linkages.

Trained the team to design packaging, brochures and a variety of publicity materials.

Designed and trained village-based people to make easily marketable products using a locally grown grass.

Co-founded ‘Pause & Effect’, a space design consultancy, with an architect associate. Designed the interior and exterior spaces of a number of offices, cafes, restaurants, guesthouses, and a children’s play area, along with an architect associate. The clients included Response Advertising Pvt. Ltd; Mileage Advertising Limited; Jhawar & Co. Stock brokers; Unimonde International; Kopran Chemical Company Pvt. Ltd.; Indian Steel & Wire Products: (office cum guest house); Ahaar & Tava (restaurants), Keventer’s Frooti Factory (Reception and Directors bungalow), Rollick Ice-Cream (chain of parlours).

Designed campaigns for companies such as Calcutta Chemicals, Jenson & Nicholson, and Boroline.Conceived the entire campaign, logo, packaging, and publicity, for various FMCG products, such as ‘Lavender Dew’, ‘Aramusk’ and ‘Armour Quartz’ (the latter two won the Communication Arts Guild awards).

• Designed various communication aids to facilitate dialogue and participatory decision making.• Conceived low-cost educational aids for underprivileged communities using waste material from offices.

• Designed exhibitions, brochures, posters, and audio-visuals for the Institute and various NGOs.• As part of a photographers’ team designed an audio-visual called ‘Mediation’, for use in communication seminars by Father Gaston Roberge, director of Chitrabani.• Designed a book and a travelling photographic exhibition titled People of Calcutta, for Chitrabani.(Conceptualised the theme and selected about 300 photographs, from a collection of over 1,500 by some of the best documentary photographers from Kolkata. I also designed and supervised the exhibition panels and the display and placement of the exhibition.)
