Conduct investigations regarding allegations of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of vulnerable adults. Collect information through observation and interviews with vulnerable adults, relatives, and other parties associated with the case. Identify service needs and determine the level of intervention needed such as voluntary services or court ordered protective services. Assess mental capacity of the vulnerable adult, danger threats, vulnerabilities and caregiver capacities to determine whether a vulnerable adult is safe or not. Provide vulnerable adults with service linkages to agency and community resources. Evaluate evidence from investigations and prepare reports of findings. Draft a variety of correspondence, assessments and summaries such as guardianship reports and affidavits for the court and attorneys. Compile accurate evidence to assist district attorney’s office in the prosecution of exploitation cases. Deliver expert testimony and documentation in matters relating to abuse, neglect, abandonment and exploitation when judicial action is necessary. Petition court for guardianship and attend guardianship hearings.Acted as Supervisor when required assigning and distributing cases to appropriate staff.Served as Information Technology Subject Matter Expert during new software and hardware rollout.Gained an in-depth knowledge of Federal and state statutes, APS regulations, policies and procedures related to reporting of vulnerable adult maltreatment as well as Medicaid, Medicare and veteran benefits.
