You know how some people seem to have known from birth what they wanted to do in life? Well, I definitely wasn't one of those people. My interests are in too many places - if I was a game show I'd be Jeopardy - so even nailing down what I wanted to go into college for was excruciating. But I did know a few things. 1. I like working for myself. 2. I love books.3. I didn't want to be tied down in a career for the rest of my life.So I became a business major, getting a degree in Entrepreneurship and starting my own company. That way I can expand or change all I want, and follow along where my successes (and failures) take me.My first business out of college was in the retail industry, I ran a book store gift shop on Main Street. It was your typical small business scene. Unfortunately, it got boring pretty fast so I expanded into publishing books as well. I love to write, so I started publishing my own books. After some growth, that was when I cut off the retail business and took the plunge face-first into the turbulent waters of the book publishing industry.Basil E. Bacorn Publishing, LLC closed its doors in February of 2022, after two key employees left during a period of rapid growth. Wanting a break from entrepreneurship, I soon found myself working as the Adult Services Librarian at the Sayre Public Library. During this time I soon realized my passion for libraries, becoming an avid library supporter and advocate. My library support continued after parting ways with Sayre Public Library through volunteerism. I currently serve on the Board of Trustees for the Mather Memorial Library and on the board of the Bradford County Library System. I now work as the Executive Director of the Central Bradford County Chamber of Commerce as I finish up my Bachelor's in Communications in pursuit of my Master’s in Library and Information Science. Upon completing my MLIS, I intend to continue my education to obtain my PhD in Information Science. Let's connect!
